At Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday night, eleventh-seeded Grigor Dimitrov stunned top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz 6-2, 6-4 to reach the semifinals of the Miami Open.
Dimitrov was dazzling with an all-court performance. On his one-handed backhand, he came over the ball beautifully with exquisite timing. He crushed forehand winners. He mixed up his speeds and spins, volleyed and served spectacularly.
For the match, the Bulgarian hit 24 winners with four aces.
In his post-match press conference, Alcaraz said: “Well, I think he played amazing tennis, almost perfect, if I can say ‘perfect.’ I mean, I couldn’t find solutions. I couldn’t find a way to make him feel uncomfortable on the court. You know, it was a great game from his side.
