Frank Martin, #2 WBA, confirmed that he’ll fight the ‘Face of Boxing’ Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis next. Martin (18-0, 12 KOs) says the date and location of the fight are still being finalized. It’s rumored to take place in Houston, Texas, on June 22nd on Amazon Prime Video PPV.
The 29-year-old Martin, nicknamed ‘The Ghost,’ is coming off a narrow 12-round unanimous decision last July against Artem Harutyunyan. That was a close call for the Detroit, Michigan native Martin, and he can’t afford to fight that way against Tank Davis if he hopes to dethrone him.
Martin says there won’t be a rehydration clause or catchweight involved in his fight against Tank Davis, like his teammate, Ryan Garcia, had to endure last year.
Tank Davis’ management did a number on Ryan, making him agree to a dehydration clause and a catchweight handicap along with a smaller purse split for him to make the fight happen.
