St. Thomas announced Wednesday it would be leaving the CCHA in 2026 to join the NCHC, leaving the CCHA at eight teams again.
When St. Thomas decided to move its athletic programs up from D-III to D-I three years ago, the CCHA was a natural fit. But things are ever-changing the modern NCAA landscape.
CCHA commissioner Don Lucia talked about the move and how it fits into the bigger picture, for the league and college hockey.
