MARQUETTE, Mich. Dave Shyiak, a member of the 1991 Northern Michigan national championship team, is returning to his alma mater as head coach.
“I’m thrilled that Dave Shyiak will be returning to campus to lead our hockey program,” NMU athletic director and former coach Rick Comley said. “Dave was a part of our National Championship team and helped keep our program at an extremely high level as an assistant coach for many years.”
Shyiak comes back to NMU after serving as an assistant at St. Cloud State most recently, and at Western Michigan before that. Shyiak was head coach at Alaska-Anchorage from 2005-13.
