LAS VEGAS Led as expected by Boston University phenom and reigning Hobey Baker Award winner Macklin Celebrini — now the San Jose Sharks’ No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft — a total of nine current or incoming NCAA players were drafted Friday night in the first round, matching last year’s total.
The nine selections also is tied for third-most all-time, while the 34 first rounders taken over the last four seasons are more than any four-year period in NHL Draft history.
