The NCAA Division I council will meet next week (Tuesday and Wednesday), and the topic of CHL players becoming NCAA eligible is on their agenda.
The NCAA Division I Council Coordination Committee authorized a review of student-athlete eligibility in June. The NCAA applied the review to men’s hockey and skiing. The review centered on student-athletes’ involvement with professional teams before their initial full-time enrollment.
The committee reviewed eligibility concepts to determine if any of those concepts should be considered for action during the October meeting. The committee recommended that the D-I council consider adopting emergency legislation during its meeting next week to eliminate the separate application of…
