Not all 2-year-olds have aspirations of running in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve on the first Saturday in May. Some have distance limitations, though that doesn’t mean they cannot have a highly productive career as a sprinter. In Sunday’s Bob Hope Stakes at Del Mar, six 2-year-old sprinters will square off in a test that could propel them toward a successful 3-year-old campaign in one-turn stakes or, perhaps, land them on the Triple Crown trail.
1. McKinzie Street: Tired and finished third when tested around two turns in the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes Presented by DK Horse. Was second before that in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity at seven furlongs and figures to be a main threat here.
