C2 Racing Stable, Agave Racing Stable, and Ken Reimer’s Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) winner Soul of an Angel returned to the work tab Dec. 16 with a three-furlong breeze in :38.18 at Gulfstream Park.
Following her thrilling last-to-first, half-length victory in the Breeders’ Cup, the 5-year-old daughter of Atreides returned to Florida for a freshening. Her Monday morning move was her first recorded workout since the Nov. 2 triumph at Del Mar.
“She’s doing well,” said trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. “We gave her a little break after the Breeders’ Cup and the plan is to get her back for the Rampart.”
Joseph said a second breeze is planned Dec. 22 ahead of the Dec. 26 Rampart Stakes at Gulfstream. The $125,000 race is contested over a one-turn mile.
