Arizona State coach Greg Powers expected 17-year-old freshman Cullen Potter to need some time adjusting to Division I men’s hockey.
It took less than even he expected.
“We knew it might take him until Thanksgiving to figure out the nuances, but he is already there,” Powers said before the Sun Devils pulled off its first road National Collegiate Hockey Conference sweep, knocking off defending NCAA champion Denver in mid-November.
It started a strong finish for the first half of the season for Potter, son of U.S. Olympian Jenny and longtime coach Rob Potter.
