Shakur Stevenson says Gervonta Davis should have picked #3 WBA lightweight contender Edwin De Los Santos as his opponent for March 1st instead of super featherweight Lamont Roach.
Stevenson doesn’t say why he thinks WBA 135-lb champion Tank (30-0, 28 KOs) selected De Los Santos (16-2, 14 KOs) as his next challenger, but it’s possible that he wanted to see him struggle against him.
When that happens, Shakur could argue that he’s on the same level as Tank or better. Look at it this way: Gervonta was to look poor against De Los Santos, which raises Shakur’s value because he looked terrible against him, running all over creation.
Sneaky Move
Gerovnta would be doing Stevenson’s dirty work for him by fighting De Los Santos, which would take the pressure off his shoulders to give him a rematch after their fight last year. If Tank knocks out De Los Santos, it gives Shakur an excuse not to fight him again. It’s sneaky.
