Junior Takes Over National Lead in Goals and Points

Michigan State forward Isaac Howard scored four goals, the first hat trick of his career, as the Spartans defeated Penn State, 6-4, in State College.
Combined with Boston College’s loss to Merrimack, Michigan State has moved to No. 1 in the Pairwise, at least for now. The Spartans are 18-2-1, and 9-1-1 in the Big Ten.
Howard, a junior who played his first season at Minnesota-Duluth, already surpassed career highs in goals and points coming into the game. His four goals and one assist gives him 17-15—32 for the season, putting him atop the national leaders in goals and points.
