When David Berard took the head coaching job at Stonehill, everyone had one question: why?
In 2021, Berard had resigned from his head coaching job at Holy Cross, one he had held for seven years. He was open to pursuing new opportunities, which led him to Providence on the athletics administrative side. With both his sons playing hockey at the school, It was a good fit.
But Berard discovered he missed coaching. So when he saw that Stonehill was looking for a new bench boss, he accepted the challenge.
And it’s worked out for both parties.
