With this past weekend’s sweep of Niagara, Sacred Heart took a giant step forward in its attempt to capture its first Atlantic Hockey regular-season title.
A pair of 3-2 wins over Niagara put the Pioneers in a position that allows them to control their own destiny inside the conference with four games to go. Niagara entered the weekend on the heels of the Pioneers.
With Saturday’s contest needing overtime to settle things, it ended up being a four-point swing in Sacred Heart’s favor.
