After losing its first six Big Ten games this season, Penn State is as hot as anyone right now. Sophomore Reese Laubach scored twice and a four-goal third period paced Penn State to a 6-2 victory and series sweep against Wisconsin at the Kohl Center. The wins haven’t necessarily made a major dent on the Big Ten standings, but suddenly the Nittany Lions close out the weekend at No. 16 in the Pairwise. They’re 8-1 in the last nine games, which includes two shootout wins.
Laubach also scored the only non-empty-netter of Friday’s 2-0 win, where Arsenii Sergeev stopped 25 saves for the shutout. Laubach’s second goal of Saturday’s game (his 13th of the season) made it 3-1 early in the third period. After Wisconsin…
