Greg Carvel’s 250th Win is Part of Long Process of Becoming a Top Coach in the Country

It’s almost crazy to think that Greg Carvel’s first year as head coach of the Massachusetts Minutemen led to the team losing the most games in a single season. However, since going 5-29-2 in 2016-17, the St. Lawrence graduate has not only built an exceptional program in Amherst, but also earned him the reputation as one of the best coaches in college hockey.
Last Friday, the Minutemen pulled out a hard-fought 5-4 win on the road against Connecticut, giving the team its first win over a nationally-ranked opponent since beating Boston University in early December.
