It’s difficult to sweep in Hockey East. And that’s even moreso the case when the opponents are Boston College and Boston University.
Massachusetts and Providence had impressive wins Friday over those two teams, respectively, but couldn’t finish off the weekend in grandeur. In both cases, the Boston teams, perhaps initially dealing with a post-Beanpot hangover, shook off Friday’s losses and bounced back strongly Saturday.
The big win Friday was enough to keep UMass in 13th in the Pairwise after Saturday’s games, which would be the last at-large spot in the NCAA Tournament as things stand right now. But Friday’s loss, which came after last Monday’s loss in the Beanpot final, only served to make BC…
