Denver defenseman Zeev Buium and North Dakota defenseman E.J. Emery, both NHL first rounders, were each suspended one game by the NCHC for their part in a post-game brawl Saturday.
The final horn had sounded on North Dakota’s 3-1 win over Denver at Magness Arena, when a brawl broke out soon after. All 11 players on the ice, including North Dakota goaltender T.J. Semptimphelter, were given two-minute roughing minors and 10-minute misconducts.
There was 11 players on the ice at the time, because North Dakota was shorthanded, having taking a minor penalty with 13 seconds remaining.
The referees then waived the traditional postgame handshake.
