New Hampshire goaltender Jared Whale was taken off the ice on a stretcher during the second period of Friday’s game against Boston College.
Whale collided with a teammate trying to make a play, and immediately fell to the ice. He laid flat and motionless for several minutes while trainers attended to him. He was still not moving when taken off the ice.
The referees sent both teams to the locker room for intermission, with the remaining four-plus minutes played afterward, followed immediately by the entire third period. BC won the game, 4-1.
UNH athletic trainers reportedly said that Whale could move his extremities while being taken to the hospital.
