Notre Dame won two games in regulation all season in Big Ten play. This weekend it won two at Mariucci Arena to upset No. 2-seed Minnesota.
The series victory extends the college coaching career of Jeff Jackson, who will be retiring at the end of this season after 20 seasons at Notre Dame, and six at Lake Superior State among other accomplishments. He’s won two national championships and been to seven Frozen Fours, but so far, this has been the lowest win total of any season of his career.
He’ll have a chance to move on and pick up another win next week, against his alma mater, Michigan State. The top-seeded Spartans had a bye this weekend.
