SAINT PAUL, Minn. October 7, 2023.
It was supposed to be a day of great celebration for the Buium family.
That beautiful fall day, two of Iulian and Miri’s sons — Shai and Zeev — would get to play together, on the same team, for the first time as NCAA Division I players for the University of Denver.
Instead, for the Buiums it was a day of shock, horror and massive tragedy. Hamas militants invaded Israel early that morning, killing over 1,000 and taking 247 hostages.
“When I opened the TV and saw it, I couldn’t understand what’s going on. It was a shock,” Miri Buium said.
