Before every game, Connecticut goalie Tyler Muszelik reminds himself why he should be confident. On the back pad of his goalie mask are reminders resting on the back of his mind. A cartoon moose is predominately in the center, a nickname based on his last name, but also fits with him standing 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds. And there’s home: an outline of New Jersey, two cats and the initials of his family members; the people, place and, yes, animals who inspire him.
Before he hits the ice, he lists off his accomplishments and reminds himself he has no reason to question his abilities. He ends by telling himself to just go out and play.
But going out and playing has not been as easy as it sounds for the Florida…
