Minnesota Cools Off Penn State with Late Goal

When red-hot Penn State went to Michigan State last weekend and took 5 of 6 points, it opened the door for Minnesota to move into first place.
This weekend back at Pegula Rink, the Nittany Lions did just enough to allow Michigan State to recapture first place.
While Michigan State was sweeping Notre Dame on the road — in Jeff Jackson’s final home games as Fighting Irish coach — Penn State first knocked off Minnesota in overtime Friday. Minnesota bounced back with a win Saturday, handing Penn State its first regulation loss in a month, and that allowed the Gophers and Spartans to share the top spot.
Michigan State wins the tiebreaker and so earns the No. 1 seed and a bye….
