Penn State did not appear to have a shot at an at-large NCAA Tournament bid, even as it started to get hot down the stretch. But the Nittany Lions stayed not just hot, but scorching, and after going 12-2-2 in its last 16 games, its NCAA Tournament chances are almost assured.
The Nittany Lions also did something that hasn’t been done in the seven-year history of the current Big Ten Tournament format, a lower-seeded team sweeping a quarterfinal series. And it did so at Yost Arena. As such, it flipped with Michigan in the Pairwise and put the Wolverines’ chances in quite a bit of doubt.
