An exhilarating weekend to the CCHA Mason Cup Playoffs has queued up a very intriguing Semifinal Saturday.
While regular-season champions Minnesota State and St. Thomas earned expected sweeps in their quarterfinal matchups, getting by Lake Superior State and Ferris State, respectively, there were some rather stunning outcomes in the other two matchups.
Bowling Green used the momentum from a big overtime win in Game 1 against Michigan Tech last Friday to sweep the Huskies on Saturday. Then, second-seeded Augustana lost the final two games at home to Bemidji State, resulting in the Beavers’ stunning the Vikings in a three-game thriller with an OT win on Sunday.
