Rizzo Returns for Pioneers; Broz Back in Hometown

Much has been made of this week’s Frozen Four featuring the top four offenses in the country. But the reality for Denver, the nation’s highest scoring team, is that its offense has had a much different look and feel over the past 14 games.
On Feb. 3, Western Michigan blew out the Pioneers, 7-2, at DU’s Magness Arena. The whole ordeal was a calamity in many ways, most notably because Massimo Rizzo — leading the team in scoring at the time — was knocked out with what head coach David Carle later called a “unique” lower-body injury. He hasn’t played since.
Rather than folding, DU adapted — shuffling…
