St. Thomas, which just finished its third season as a Division I program, has been accepted as a member of the NCHC. After word leaked out, the school made it official late Wednesday morning.
St. Thomas will continue to play in the CCHA for the next two seasons, then join the NCHC as its 10th team in 2026-27.
The NCHC recently added Arizona State as its ninth team, beginning next season.
“The NCHC is among the premier conferences in all of college hockey and we are thrilled to announce our membership in 2026,” St. Thomas athletic director Phil Esten said in a statement. “The move aligns with our institutional and athletics trajectory and places the Tommies with the other Summit League hockey-playing members competing in the conference.
